Urban planning ignment THANKK YOUU!?

i have an ignment where i need to creat a city and put houses and all that kind of stuff .. but really i dont no where to put them like residential houses and stores.. i dont have any idea where to put them on the map does anyone have any idea and tell me why you would put it there thank you.
